General information pertaining to all my Lots
*Unless otherwise noted in the Lot description, all Lots include the basic necessities of telephone, burglar and fire alarms.
*Unless otherwise noted in the Lot description, all Lots are pet friendly, with at least one bathtub on the Lot/Apartment accommodating the bathing of dogs.
*Unless otherwise noted in the Lot description, all Lots have level edges.
*Unless otherwise noted in the Lot description, any vehicles shown in pictures are not included.
*Trashcans and mailboxes may have been relocated to an appropriate area of the Lot. While I usually don't relocate mailboxes away from the sidewalk on residential Lots, I usually do so on apartment Lots.
*Throughout my creation process, I make certain that no Sims, Pets, Graves, Urns, or Vehicles are ever moved onto the Lot, except of course for testing exact Lot duplicates.
*I playtest copies of all my Lots to make sure everything is functional, including the Sims' (including pets) interaction with objects placed off-grid. If an object cannot be made to function the way it should, I likely will not include it in a Lot, unless otherwise noted. (Please let me know if anything doesn't work.)
*If a Lot is a rebuild of someone else's Sims2 Lot, including original Maxis Lots, it will have been built from scratch on a new Lot. (All my 'Redux' rebuilds are built on new Lots from scratch.)
*I make use of the building cheats as necessary or desirable. While typically keeping the use of the Constrain Floor Elevation (CFE) cheat to a minimum, I make extensive use of the Move Objects, Allow 45 Degree Angle Of Rotation and Snap Objetcs To Grid cheats and any other cheats as necessary or desirable. Therefore, if players move certain objects in Buy or Build mode, they might have to use one or more of these cheats to properly put those objects back in place. Don't forget the game's "Undo" function, if you move something by mistake or change your mind, but note that not every action can be undone.
My Lot file-naming convention
"Redux" - Means the Lot is a remake of someone else's Lot, including original Maxis Lots. (Note that I build all my reduxes from scratch on new, empty Lots. You are never getting a "Used" house.)
"Start" - Means it's a Starter Lot costing no more than $20k.
"3+" - The number indicates the number of bedrooms that can accommodate at least one full-size bed in which two Sims can sleep without cheats. The plus symbol indicates at least one other room that can accommodate at least one single bed. Note that custom furniture, such as bunk beds, can greatly increase these capacities.
"NCC" - Means No Custom Content is included in the Lot file, or required, although sometimes optional Custom Content is listed in the Lot description.
My game
*My version of the game is the Ultimate Collection with all Sims2 EA store and pre-release content.
*I use Mootilda's Sims2Pack Clean Installer V1.6.22 to manage all of my Lot files:
modthesims.info/d/409950/sims2pack-clean-installer-v1-6-22-updated-aug-2-2014.html
R.I.P. Mootilda, you are missed.
*I have Chris Hatch's Super Duper Hug Test fix installed to detect and allow the removal of the "Super Duper Hug Bug": www.mediafire.com/file/z0zdr2zihqpmahd/SuperDuperHugTest.7z/file
Note that I have never detected this bug on any of my Lots. See additional information, below.
My computer
*Intel 2 Quad Q9300 2.5GHz processor, 4GB RAM, Radeon R7 360 2GB, Win 10 32-bit operating system.
Custom built in 2008, this was almost top of the line then. I deliberately opted for 32-bit. Upgraded a couple of times over the years (voluntarily and involuntarily) with a newer video card, more RAM, a new power supply, two new optical drives, and maybe one or two other things. It also sports a 3.5" floppy drive.
More information on the "Super Duper Hug Bug"
An explanatory discussion about this "Bug" is here: modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=646976
There is more information about this at various other fansites, but the short end of it appears to be that all a player has to do is place Chris Hatch's fix (linked above) into their Downloads folder and it will display a warning message whenever a Lot infected with the "Bug" is loaded. Note that this warning message will go away automatically after about 30 seconds, so don't doze off while a suspected Lot loads, only to wake up a minute or two later and assume the Lot is okay because you don't see the warning.
If the warning message appears, all a player has to do is click "OK" and save the Lot to get rid of the bug permanently on that Lot. Remember to also delete the infected Lot from your Lot bin and replace it with the cleaned version.
Despite all the talk about this, no one has ever bothered to post a picture of what that warning message looks like, so to that end I downloaded one of the supposedly infected Lots referenced in the above discussion (comment #23) and tested the fix to see if it would display a warning message. It did indeed display the warning when I first entered the Lot, and here's what it looks like:
